Where can the rental vehicle be driven?

Vehicles may be driven within:

  • Prince Edward Island
  • New Brunswick
  • Nova Scotia

What is the maximum rental period?

Reservations and Booking

How can I reserve a vehicle?

Reservations can be made online through our website or directly with our rental location. All reservations are subject to verification.

Is a booking deposit required?

Yes. A deposit equal to one day’s rental is required when the reservation is made. This amount will be applied toward the final rental charges.

What is the cancellation policy?

Reservations cancelled more than 48 hours before the scheduled pickup time are free of charge.

If a reservation is cancelled within 48 hours of pickup, or the renter does not arrive, a one-day rental charge may apply.

How long will the vehicle be held if I arrive late?

If our customer informs of any delay in arrival, the vehicle may be held for up to four hours after the scheduled pickup time, unless the rental location has closed for the day.

At Pickup

What payment methods are accepted?

A valid credit card in the renter’s name is required at pickup.

We accept:

  • Visa
  • MasterCard
  • American Express

Debit cards, prepaid cards, cash, and key-ring credit cards are not accepted.

Is a security deposit required?

Yes. A pre-authorisation hold of up to $500 will be placed on the renter’s credit card. The deposit protects against potential damage, fuel shortages, traffic violations, or other incidental charges during the rental.

When will the security deposit be released?

After the vehicle is returned and inspected, the unused authorization is released.

Most Canadian and U.S. banks process the release within 3–7 business days, though processing times vary by card issuer.

Will additional identification be required?

In some cases, additional identification may be requested to confirm your current address.

Examples include:

  • Utility bill (dated within 30 days)
  • Cell phone bill
  • Valid passport

Should I check the vehicle condition before picking up?

Yes. Please inspect the vehicle with our staff before departure and ensure any existing damage is recorded on the inspection report. This helps prevent confusion during the return process.

During the Rental

How are rental days calculated?

Rental rates are based on a 24-hour rental period beginning at the pickup time.

Is there a mileage limit?

No. Rentals include unlimited kilometres within the permitted provinces.

What is the fuel policy?

Vehicles are provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned full.

If the vehicle is not refueled before return, a refueling charge of $4.00 per litre will apply. We recommend refueling within 10 km of the return location and keeping the receipt.

Is smoking allowed in the vehicles?

No. All vehicles are strictly non-smoking.

Smoking in the vehicle will result in a $500 cleaning charge. Additional cleaning charges may apply if excessive cleaning is required.

Who is responsible for traffic tickets or tolls?

The renter is responsible for all traffic tickets, tolls, parking violations, and penalties incurred during the rental period.

If notices are received after the rental has ended, the charges may be forwarded to the renter along with applicable administrative fees.

What happens if I leave personal items in the vehicle?

Please check the vehicle carefully before returning it. Pleasant Drive Rentals is unable to assume responsibility for items left in vehicles or on our premises.

Insurance and Damage Responsibility

What happens if the vehicle is damaged?

The renter is responsible for damage occurring during the rental period, subject to any Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) purchased.

Costs may include repairs, loss of use while the vehicle is unavailable, towing, storage, and related administrative costs.

What is Loss Damage Waiver (LDW)?

LDW is an optional protection product that may limit the renter’s financial responsibility for certain types of damage.

If purchased and rental terms are followed, liability may be limited to $1,500 per occurrence.

LDW is not insurance and exclusions apply as per policy.

Can I rely on my personal auto insurance?

Some renters rely on their personal auto insurance if their policy includes rental vehicle coverage. Written proof of coverage may be required before the rental begins.

Any personal automobile insurance maintained by the Renter shall be primary, and the Company’s insurance, if applicable, shall be excess unless prohibited by law.

Does my credit card provide rental coverage?

Some credit cards offer rental coverage; however, this varies by card provider.

Any damage-related charges will first be billed to the renter, who may then seek reimbursement from their credit card provider if coverage applies.

Accidents and Emergencies

What should I do if an accident occurs?

If an accident occurs:

  1. Ensure everyone’s safety
  2. Contact local authorities if required
  3. Notify Pleasant Drive Rentals as soon as possible

Prompt reporting allows us to assist you and ensure proper insurance procedures are followed.

Returning the Vehicle

What happens when I return the vehicle?

The vehicle will be inspected when it is returned.

The renter remains responsible for the vehicle until it has been inspected and accepted by Pleasant Drive Rentals.

What happens if I return the vehicle late?

Rental periods run in 24-hour intervals starting at pickup time.

  • 30-minute grace period
  • 31–90 minutes late: $75 fee
  • More than 90 minutes: an additional rental day applies

This allows vehicles to be prepared on time for the next reservation.

Can I change the return time or location?

Changes to the return date, time, or location may be possible depending on availability. Additional charges may apply. Please contact us in advance if your plans change.
